Seasonal...open April to September...they are closed for 2018.
Nostalgic place. Good shakes not great. I hate when they ask for a 20% tip on the credit card machine..
Omg! So good! Extremely friendly and helpful staff, free cones for dogs, great bench style swings....I'm mean come on! Love it
Fun local old fashioned malt shoppe. Free puppy cones!
All the nostalgia plus great Ice cream! Snookies never fails to please whatever your sweet tooth demands. Pleasant service and a quaint inside seating area if the weather is disagreeable. (It was empty on our pleasant summer evening visit.) Park around back and walk up or do the drive through.
Everybody raves about the place. I have enjoyed better. I ordered a small hot fudge sundae. The hot fudge was hard to find.
I've tried the malts and the arctic blasts and both were outstanding. Based on several great experiences, I have to believe that everything else is great as well!
We love their shakes.
Their malts are delicious!
Not impressed Got a raspberry malt It was really thinNot that good of flavorNext time I'll stick to Grannys
Great ice cream. The kid cones are the perfect size for our 3 and 5-year-old nieces. Not too big.
Came with a small list of things to get. Walked up to order. Friendly, fast, accurate, and fairly priced. Very small drive thru. They DO take cards now!
Just as great and yummy as it was when we lived here 20 years ago. Love Snookies. My adult daughter reminded us of Snookies and how much she loved walking up to enjoy sundaes, ice cream, and malts with a cookie on the straw. So we stopped to enjoy it again on our vacation. Worth the long wait in line. It's still very popular.
Very unique ice cream store. Friendly customer service and quick service. Lots of tasty treats to choose from. Enjoy.
I haven’t been to Snookies too many times, but I remember it being better in years past! Maybe they changed some of the recipes but my staple (chocolate malt) wasn’t great when I went there a week ago. I’ll definitely be going back but hope it was just a fluke incident. It’s nice to have a good neighborhood ice cream shop that uses real malt powder!
Great variety and friendly no nonsense staff that knows what they are doing. Highly recommended.
Nice neighborhood ice cream shop. The ice cream it's fine, but nothing exceptional. Go for sundaes or banana splits, not unadorned Ice cream for that reason. The sundaes are fantastic. The atmosphere is great.
It was a fun place to visit and the malts were pretty good. They also provide water and treats for dogs.
Super tasty milkshakes and ice cream. And they now take credit cards! The traffic on the way out is a bit headache but still totally worth it.
Delicious & quick service
Had been there once before. Had a chocolate malt last time which I thought was good. This time I had a banana split. It was not very good. The vanilla ice cream in it tasted foamy and not like quality ice cream. The bananas were on top which makes no sense. The plastic it comes in is too small. There were minimal toppings. Short on chocolate and strawberry toppings. Overall just not good. My malt was a 5 the banana split was a 1. Quite disappointed this time.
We loved getting I've cream at Snookies! It is very well run and delicious! The line was wrapped around the building when we arrived at 9pm, but service is so quick that we didn't mind the surprisingly short wait! Very friendly staff and smoke outdoor seating to accommodate a lot of people. Just what we needed tonight and we will definitely be back to explore the Beaverdale area a bit more next time. Don't forget to grab a selfie in front of the neon sign! 💫
As an out-of-towner this was a super cool old school ice cream place that im glad we found. Milkshakes were excellent creamy and smooth. There blizzards were great too tons of toppings. They have a huge selection of flavors. Ice cream, malts, shakes, blizzards, and other non- dairy deserts too.
The strawberry shake was done right on my second visit.. I attribute the improvement to better trained staff.
We had the turtle Sundae and it was ok, but it didn't really look like the picture. It was decent and the caramel sauce was good. The shake seemed a bit icy and not real smooth. Overall decent.
Best local ice cream shop in Des Moines. Hands down. My favorite is their super large shakes.
Amazing ice cream, very friendly staff and affordable prices!!!
This is the best icecream I've ever had. They aren't cheap on the toppings it was amazing!
Nice atmosphere, sitting area. Icecream is good but very slow service.
Went for the first time today ..very good!! Great service!!! I would recommend this ice cream shop !!!
Awesome raspberry fudge shake. Long drive through wait.
Love the old fashion feel and the ice cream is da bomb!
Good ol fashioned ice cream👍🏿🙌🏾💯
Love the local places. Great selection and great service. Long lines when it is hot out.
My first visit loved it
Best soft ice cream in the area. Still prefer hand dipped but not really an option here in Iowa.
My family and I LOVE LOVE LOVE snookies. We’ve lived in beaverdale about 3 years now and insist on walking here on hot summer days. The malts are AMAZING, and every ice cream treat we’ve had, is served with a scrumptious cookie on top!Our 1 year old approves, and so do we!
It's a typical ice cream place. I thought the soft serve itself was good but my word, actually blend the dang blizzards!! Each time I get one it's literally just topping at the bottom and topping at the top. The. Whole. Point. Is. Blending. It. Also kind of expensive for what you get. Foam cups and minimum wage high schoolers don't cost that much.
I absolutely LOVE their malts, and my kids love their ice cream. It's walking distance away from my house, which is also super convenient. I recommend it if you just want to hang out or are craving ice cream 😊
Great local ice cream shop that's a staple in the community. Good ice cream and fair prices. Fun outdoor seating area and drive thru. Indoor seating that's only open occasionally. Gotta try this place!
Great old school place to stop and get ice cream or other various frozen treats. They have free dog ice cream and awesome service from the folks behind the window. Couldn't ask for a better neighborhood malt shop in my opinion.
We love snookies!
First time to Snookies! What a gem of a place. We will be back. The brownie fudge was amazing. Everybody enjoyed their desert. A new tradition for us even though we live 2 1/2 hours away!
A Des Moines staple. Fun place to take friends and family for a cold treat to beat the summer heat. They have lots of different flavors. I went with traditional chocolate malt. Super tasty! Lots of outdoor seating and easy to walk to.
A free pup cone with purchase has made this a favorite stop.
Highly recommend the Chocolate Banana shake! Real banana pieces in it!
Banana split and strawberry shortcake was delicious but nothing too special. Good average ice cream shop.
Great ice cream shop but only complaint was not enough trash cans and the one they did have was hard to reach
Great local stop for ice cream that we were happy to find! People and dog friendly!! Ice cream treats are super well priced, and everything we ordered was loved. Will stop here again when in town.
The staff is super friendly and you get your order as quickly as they can make it! The line was long but the wait was practically nothing.
This is a great old-fashioned ice cream stand. That 1950s architecture is awesome. There are a few seats outside
